Singing releases endorphins, serotonin and dopamine - the 'happy' chemicals that boost your mood and make you feel good about yourself.
Women of all ages and stages welcome. Come and sing in a circle filled with songs for the soul, ranging from empowering chants to lullabies, rock and pop.
Tea and treat included!
Simple harmony songs taught by ear
No singing experience needed - if you can talk, you can sing
The Autumn Term starts Friday 18th September

Singing is proven to release 'happy hormones' and act as a natural anti-depressant.
Gentle lullabies will soothe your nervous system (as well as your little one!)
Tune in to yourself and your little one whilst you connect with other women.
Singing Mamas is a national non-profit set up by nurse Kate Valentine to improve maternal wellbeing. We already have groups in more than 90 UK local authorities, but we want our groups to be available to EVERY mother that needs it.
If you would like to know more about this movement do follow them on IG: @singing_mamas_org
If Amersham is not your local area you can find your local group through the main Singing Mamas website here:
The cost of classes varies depending on location and group size. In some circumstances the leader is able to offer bursary places to women facing financial hardship.
Jennifer's group in Amersham is new, she would love to get funding for this but currently it's £8 per class. That's just £8 for a 90 minute session including a hot drink, a treat and time to connect with other mummies. This term is £96 for 12 sessions.
To claim funding for a community project like Singing Mamas Jennifer has to prove there's a need. This is a part of her ongoing vision, she is dedicated to offering fully funded Singing Mamas to her local community in the future.
It's all about making YOU feel good. There are no auditions, no solos, no reading music. Just simple songs taught by ear. Your leader, Jennifer, will sing the songs line by line and the group will echo it back, until everyone knows it off by heart. (Then we might add a harmony or two!). Children are welcome and we always make time for a cuppa and a treat!
Each session includes one hour of singing followed by 30 minutes for a hot drink and a treat, 90 minutes in total.
Songs are simple and range from empowering chants to gentle lullabies. No musical experience is needed. The atmosphere is warm, supportive and free from pressure; just a circle of women connecting through voice and song.
Jennifer doesn’t offer drop-in tickets or one-off tester sessions. This isn’t an ordinary mother and baby group — it’s a safe space where the emphasis is on the mums and building real community. Singing connects deeply with our emotions, and it can take a few sessions for the joy and benefits to fully settle in. Dropping in once or twice can mean missing that deeper experience.
Jennifer is committed to creating a space where mums feel the pull to turn up - even if they don’t feel like it! Something she believes is so important for building self-esteem, trust, and the willingness to be heard.
When the same group returns each week, the songs can develop and grow, confidence builds, and the community truly flourishes. New faces every week would mean continually starting from the beginning rather than nurturing the whole group.
Yes, Jennifer does ask for a term commitment. She has deliberately kept the price as low as possible (£8 for 90 minutes including a hot drink and treat) so that missing the occasional class doesn’t feel too costly.
The goal is to gather a core group of mums who can grow together, work on more challenging songs and enjoy meaningful connection over coffee and treat at the end of each session. A WhatsApp group will also be set up so the community can stay connected between weeks.
Children of any age are welcome, as long as their presence doesn’t take away from the nurturing space being created for the mums. Jennifer gently asks that little ones stay within the circle where possible. Over time, many children learn that this is a special time to sit with Mummy, listen, and even join in with the songs if they wish. The heart of the session remains focused on the mums.
Jennifer trusts that every mother knows her little one best. You’re welcome to bring food and your most engaging toys so your little one can feel settled for the hour while you have some time for yourself. Some children may benefit from a trip to the park beforehand to help them settle!
Jennifer’s goal is to create something really special, a genuine community where women feel held, heard and able to grow in confidence and connection. She believes the mums themselves are the heart of the group: their energy, willingness and presence are the building blocks of everything that unfolds - the magic that will happen!
She is dedicated to offering fully funded Singing Mamas to her local community in the future and is in the process of applying for funding. She wholeheartedly believes that every woman should have access to a Singing Mamas group.
All abilities welcome: no auditions, no sheet music, no pressure
Come as you are, leave feeling more like yourself
